Sitting on the rock was a glimmering, emerald-colored mermaid, who looked at her like she'd known her forever.

All of the sudden, a high-pitched scream came from the garage. I stopped typing to listen carefully. Not a sound. It's probably just my imagination again.

A moment later, something small, yet quick as a mouse darted right over my toes. I took a deep breath, then slowly leaned over to look underneath the desk. Nothing there. My heart began to race a bit, but I knew I had to get my homework done. Focus!
